I left for San Francisco Thursday afternoon and arrived at my cousin's house in Oakland around midnight that day. Now that I think about it, I'm ridiculously happy that the plan followed through to going to San Francisco because I had a feeling I'd have to cancel it for some reason. Thuy and Tina couldn't join in on the trip so it was just Becky and me. It would have been so much more fun with them. Big Bear in the winter! I have never been on a road trip before and there was just so many things I have not experienced yet so it was all the more exciting for me. The ride there sucked, but it was an experience. A lot of bug crap got on the windshield and the front of Becky's car.
Friday
I woke up to the sound of trance music. My cousin is into that kind of music and that's all we really heard in the house when we stayed there for those couple days. He made us breakfast, pancakes, eggs, and those asian sausages. Mary, my cousin's wife (cousin-in-law), came home from work and we all got ready to head to San Francisco.
We took the Bart to San Francisco. It's like a subway and it was my first time in one of those. They have those things were you put the ticket in in order to take the subway just like the movies! Haha. We walked around Union Square. The streets are reminiscent of New York City, no wonder people want to live in San Francisco, closest you get to city life in the west coast. We walked back and forth looking for the three-level Forever 21, but no look. So we paid a visit to China Town. We went to the Fortune Cookie "Factory" which was so small, I was really expecting a huge factory. We stopped by a park and then went to Fisherman's Wharf & Ghirardelli Square. For most of the times we hit shops, I looked around for souveniers I promised a few friends. After looking around, we went back on the bus back to Union Square which was way too full that everyone was pushing to get in. That was a first. I made sure to keep my bag with money and what not safe. We arrived right in front of the Forever 21 we were looking for. Compared to the one at Anaheim Plaza, the one in Anaheim Plaza is better. Three floors in San Fran is equivalent to two floors back at home. The one in San Fran was super crowded and super messy. The sales section sucked ass compared to the one at home. Nonetheless, I blew 100 bucks there. ):
Saturday
Friday night there was nice sunny weather and it was chilly at night. But sleeping at night sucked so bad that Becky moved to the wooden floor to sleep rather than the bed. The following days were cold. Saturday was pretty chill. Becky and I lounged around the room we stayed in until 4PM. We went to Berkeley afterwards. There were so many Berkeley students walking on the streets. We went to a vintage store which I didn't end up buying anything. They had tons of boots though, but then I thought about the 8+ pairs I have at home and that if I had bought a pair at that store, it'd just be an identical to one of my other pairs. The further we walked down the Berkeley streets, the more homeless people we saw. So we met back with my cousins and checked out the Berkeley campus. After that, we had dinner at Zachary. Deep dish pizza! I've always seen it on TV and heard of it, but have never tried it. As much as I dislike peppers, onions, and mushrooms, the pizza there was delicious. The crust was the best part.
Sunday
For breakfast, I had leftover pizza. Becky and I were determined to do things that we had wish we had done when we were at Fisherman's Wharf. Plus, I wanted to go to Haight & Ashbury (a street that is full of vintage stores and what not). Instead of taking the Bart, my cousins took us in their car and we went across the Bay bridge. First time ever going on a bridge! We went to Haight & Ashbury first and took quite a walk uphill just to get to that intersection. I ended up buying a pair of ankle boots. ): And a skirt. After that, we went to Japan Town to get a souvenier for Thuy since she loves Hello Kitty. By the time we left there, it started to sprinkle outside. We had to head back to Oakland because Mary had to meet with her client. When we got back to the house, we took a restroom break and headed out again. This time, on our own. Tina's GPS was very very VERY handy. Kim suggested having clam chowder for dinner so we went to Boudin to have some. The clam chowder was like the one back at home, except better because of the rainy weather. We went back to a taffy store because Becky wanted to get some. Then we got our caricature done because I wanted to get that done, but didn't get a chance to last time. Our last stop was back at Ghirardelli Square where we had the most amazing sundae ever. We came back to the house all wet. The shower was great though. I really enjoyed walking around the streets in the rain because we haven't had rain back in Orange County for awhile.
Monday
Since Thursday, I've been debating whether to dye my hair ligther and in the end I followed through. We went to Sally's and bought all the stuff. But it was a fail. My hair is still dark and the dye doesn't soak into my hair. Kind of sucks. We had breakfast before we left to go back home. We left at 1. We stopped by Solvang and wish we stopped by Yosemite Park and Hearst Castle, but didn't want to spend money or had the time. Solvang was a cute little place. We had Danish pastries and both of us bought shoes at a fashion store they had there. How funny, we actually shopped at a Danish place. We headed straight home after that. The scenery was amazing, we got to see both the farmland and the seaside.
Overall, the trip was amazing. I enjoyed every minute of it there, even when I just laid around in bed at some points. Tons of pictures!
